About The Job
We are seeking an accomplished and highly motivated scientific leader in oncology and immuno-oncology drug discovery to join our research organization. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cancer biology, target discovery and validation, and translational biomarker strategies, with demonstrated experience advancing innovative therapeutic concepts toward preclinical development. This role combines strategic project leadership with hands-on laboratory work. The position offers the opportunity to shape early discovery programs and collaborate extensively with internal and external partners.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and drive oncology and immuno-oncology discovery programs, from target identification through preclinical proof-of-concept.
- Contribute deep expertise in cancer biology, tumor immunology, and translational science, informing target selection, indication strategy, and experimental design.
- Support the discovery and preclinical development of innovative cancer therapeutics using diverse modalities, including small-molecule inhibitors, targeted degraders, and biologics.
- Provide scientific leadership while remaining capable of hands-on laboratory work, as needed, to directly support project teams.
- Manage and coordinate external collaborations with CROs, academic groups, and industry partners, ensuring scientific rigor, alignment with project goals, and timely delivery.
About You
- Required Qualifications:
- PhD (or equivalent) in cancer biology, immunology, molecular biology, or a related life sciences discipline.
- Postdoctoral and industry experience in cancer biology and/or immuno-oncology research.
- Strong track record in target identification and validation, mechanism-of-action studies, and biomarker discovery.
- Demonstrated experience supporting preclinical development of oncology therapeutics.
- Highly familiar with multiple therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, degraders (e.g., PROTACs), and biologics.
- Proven ability to lead scientific projects while contributing experimentally when required.
- Experience managing external research collaborations with CROs and academic or industry partners.
- Excellent scientific communication skills.
- Experience working with large scale data mining, or target discovery and translation to patient.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience advancing programs from target-ID to development candidate.
- Publications and/or patents in oncology or immuno-oncology research.
- Experience working in a matrixed, cross-functional pharmaceutical research environment.
