About the role
Performs tasks related to the manufacturing and distribution of whole blood and blood components in compliance with OneBlood standard operating procedures.
Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring a flexible schedule with a 10-hour shift between 6:00 PM and 7:00 AM, any day of the week including weekends. Candidates are generally scheduled four 10-hour shifts per week.
Training requires a flexible schedule for 3-4 weeks, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Shift and weekend differential pay of $1.50 - $4.50 per hour may apply based on hours worked.
Responsibilities
- Manufactures, stores, and distributes blood and blood products.
- Performs data entry associated with component production, labeling, storage, and shipping to ensure accurate and complete manufacturing records.
- Operates, maintains, and performs quality control checks on equipment.
- Ensures suitability and accurate labeling of products for release and distribution.
- Performs the quarantine and disposition of unacceptable products and/or samples.
- Ensures adequate inventory of required supplies.
- Prepares and submits quality control samples for testing.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prior laboratory, blood bank manufacturing, or logistics experience preferred.
- Ability to organize work for timely completion.
- Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
- Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Skill in operating office equipment.
- Ability to report to work during a disaster, public health emergency, or other catastrophic event.
Physical Requirements
Tasks involve periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects and materials up to 50 pounds. Assistance from another person and/or proper techniques and moving equipment may be required for moving heavier objects. Tasks may involve climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Environmental Conditions
Work is performed inside and/or outside with potential exposure to adverse conditions such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements, and pathogenic substances. The role may expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens and freezers at below-freezing temperatures (-30°F/-35°C). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
