About the role
GPO employees provide innovative services for the printing, publishing, storage, and distribution of digital content to other federal agencies. This position supports the Government Publishing Office at Stennis Space Center, MS.
Responsibilities
- Complete bindery jobs by setting up and operating one or more bindery machines.
- Assist in starting equipment via touch screen and adjusting bindery machines.
- Combine electro-mechanically with other equipment to produce finished products.
- Make necessary adjustments to coordinate multiple workstations on a single machine.
- Interpret job orders and plan bindery operations efficiently.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Pass all preemployment requirements including Secret Security Clearance
- May be required to serve a one-year probationary period
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
- Pass a physical examination before appointment
- Strength test may be required
- Confidential Financial Disclosure Report is required
- Physical Effort: Lifting up to 10 pounds, handling up to 40 pounds, standing for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, reaching, and working in a production environment with low and high frequency noise and vibrations.
Qualifications
- Experience and/or interest for learning skills as a Production Technician without more than normal supervision
- Ability to follow simple directions
- Ability to work safely
- Dexterity, reliability, and dependability
- Basic knowledge of mathematics (decimals, metric units)
- Ability to use Personal Computers (PCs), desktops or laptops for common applications
