AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We are looking for a BIM Designer with MEP BIM Coordination experience. You will be a part of a highly creative and efficient MEP BIM team, tasked with designing challenging and complex projects with innovative solutions for Amazon owned Data Center facilities. You will provide support to our Central Engineering Team through the preparation of Electrical, telecom and Security BIM models, construction documents and leveraging BIM data.

You will influence Data Center design documents for: One-lines, Switchgear, UPS, Panelboards, Transformers, Power, Lighting, Lighting Control Systems, Grounding, Fire Alarm systems, Short Circuit and Arc Flash analysis, Cable tray and Cable pathways for Ethernet and Fiber systems. You will produce, maintain and publish permit Electrical Engineering drawing sets for our fleet of Data Centers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Designing the electrical, Telecom. and Security systems of Data Centers, and utilizing Revit to create and maintain BIM models
  • Work with support and guidance within a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks, including working with internal groups as well as external suppliers and consultants
  • Be self-motivated and work within the MEP group as well as within other teams
  • Support in preparing and developing detailed Revit models of Electrical, Telecom. and Security building systems
  • Developing & publishing construction documentation for Electrical/Telecom and Security building systems designs in a fast-paced environment to meet scheduled deliverables
  • Assist with creating and maintaining BIM templates and enforce BIM standards
  • Lead clash detection and cross-discipline model coordination
  • Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations
  • Assist the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers
  • Recording and reporting of key metrics to management
  • Be positive and always offer creative, out of the box solutions

A day in the life

As a BIM Designer, you will collaborate across disciplines and teams to refine data center designs. Your work includes creating detailed models, drawings, specification, prototypes, and updating managers and leaders of changes to the building design. You engage in design discussions, review feedback from peers and collaborators, and adjust designs to ensure our data center solutions meet the highest standards of efficiency and quality.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
  • 3+ years of design/engineering of producing construction drawings for mission critical facilities
  • 2+ years consistent Revit and AutoCAD experience
  • Knowledge of BIM standards (ISO 19650, BIM Execution Plans, Level of Development/LOD)
  • Experience managing and integrating federated models and clash detection

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
  • Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production

Pay

Base salary range: $96,600 - $160,000 USD annually (Austin, TX; Herndon, VA; Seattle, WA). Your package will also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
