About the role
Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team. This position may be filled remotely or at one of our locations.
Responsibilities
- Aid in initiating and implementing the monthly client billing process, including reviewing and editing proformas, modifying time and cost entries, writing off and down, completing transfers, dividing, and combining timecards, ensuring rates are accurate, and applying available funds to billing.
- Verify the accuracy of billing, compile supporting backup documentation, acquire and maintain proper approval documentation, finalize and distribute invoices, and address billing inquiries from attorneys and clients.
- Coordinate appeals for rejected invoices, address billing disputes and discrepancies, and assist with customized reporting requirements for internal and external clients.
- Maintain addresses, invoices templates, and e-billing information within the firm's billing system, assist with accounts receivable, and manage monthly reports surrounding billing workload.
- Manage multiple tasks and complete within designated time deadlines, and collaborate with other departments as needed for rate management, trust accounting, unallocated funds, and billed on account funds.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of prior experience with legal billing and client invoicing.
- Knowledge or prior use of Elite 3E.
- Experience with electronic billing processes and procedures, eBillingHub, and third-party e-billing vendor sites (Legal Tracker, TyMetrix 360, CounselLink, etc.).
- Knowledge of Paperless Proforma.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, if needed.
Pay
Compensation is commensurate with skill and experience, ranging from $56,000 - $114,000 in California, $52,000 - $92,000 in Colorado, $51,000 - $98,000 in Illinois, $56,000 - $107,000 in Massachusetts, $54,000 - $82,000 in Maryland, $56,000 - $93,000 in Minnesota, $61,000 - $110,000 in Jersey City, NJ, $52,000 - $113,000 in New York, $55,000 - $106,000 in Vermont, and $54,000 - $103,000 in Washington, D.C., plus a discretionary bonus.
