Responsibilities
- Working denial, eligibility, and collections worklists
- Contacting payers, appealing denied claims, and addressing overpayments
- Reviewing CPT/ICD-10 code usage and ensuring billing accuracy
- Supporting self-pay accounts and patient education
- Processing refunds and payments as needed
- Providing backup support for the Billing Specialist I
- Assisting with projects and contributing to overall revenue cycle improvements
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in medical billing or insurance verification
- High school diploma or GED
- Familiarity with health insurance concepts, coding, and denial management
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Comfort with billing systems like Athena Athena
Qualifications
- Preferred experience with KY Medicaid and FQHC billing
