About the role
The Billing Clerk Job Class is responsible for processing customer numbers and invoices on damage claims in the Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) system. This includes establishing a telework arrangement with their supervisor, processing and maintaining electronic claim files, calling insurance companies to report claims, auditing deposits, troubleshooting problems, and performing administrative duties related to cash accounting and accounts receivable. Additionally, this position follows up on past due invoices and sends them to the MN Department of Revenue when necessary.
Responsibilities

- Perform administrative duties related to cash accounting and accounts receivable
- Follow up on past due invoices and send them to the MN Department of Revenue when necessary
Requirements
- Knowledge of accounts receivable and computerized billing system sufficient to enter and access information and identify and correct errors
- Skills in accounting sufficient to reconcile differences between invoices, receipts, purchase orders, and assess needs based on data and events affecting the account
- Skills in database management sufficient to enter and retrieve data
- Skills in customer service sufficient to provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence
- Ability to communicate in a variety of formats to gather and relay information with tact and diplomacy
Qualifications

Skills
- SWIFT (aka: PeopleSoft) experience processing invoices
- Experience with claims processing and insurance companies
