Responsibilities

  • Provides exceptional member service by assessing needs, advising on transactions (opening/servicing accounts), and explaining products and services
  • Recognizes member needs, educates on financial management tools, and cross-sells products through consultation
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, not required
  • Meets sales and service goals; uses lead lists for outbound calls to existing members
  • Resolves problems by clarifying complaints, determining causes, providing solutions, expediting corrections, and following up
  • Maintains cash drawer and initiates wire transfers, cashier’s checks, and cash advances
  • Creates VISA cards; opens/processes IRA transactions, certificates of deposit, and redeems savings bonds
  • Uses judgment to place check holds and issue fee reversals; assists fraud victims with dispute processing
  • Accurately processes transactions per policies; assists with branch opening/closing procedures
  • Responsible for branch security (vault combinations, security codes, member information)
  • Represents the credit union professionally in dress and actions; keeps work area neat
  • Responds to communications (email/voicemail/missed calls) in a timely manner
  • Actively participates in product knowledge courses; travel may be required
  • Complies with all legal regulations; performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • At least six months of customer service experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license required

Qualifications

  • To be completed during the first 90 days: MSR onboarding including Branch Foundations, Teller Branch Checklist, Products & Services, and Teller Follow-up Training

Skills

  • Proficient computer operating skills; understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Thorough knowledge of credit union policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability to identify lending opportunities and make recommendations
  • Ability to cross-sell financial services to create exceptional member service
  • Ability to perform financial calculations
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Schedule

  • Part Time; Monday–Friday hours vary between 8:40am–6:15pm
  • Saturdays 8:40am–2:15pm
  • Day off during the week when a Saturday is worked
  • Flexibility needed; 20–30 hrs/week based on branch needs

Pay

  • Starting competitive pay of $17.50 per hour; increases based on experience
  • Performance reviews with opportunities to increase compensation
  • Additional $1.00/hr for English/Spanish fluency

Physical Abilities / Working Conditions

  • Physical Demands: Ability to talk, hear, sit, use hands/arms consistently; stand, walk, kneel, and crouch occasionally
  • Vision Requirements: Close vision (≤20 inches) and distance vision (≥20 feet)
  • Weight Lifted: Up to 10 lbs consistently; up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Environment: Moderate noise (business office with computers/printers, light traffic)
