About the role
Housing Locators assist families in finding safe, stable, affordable housing through the Compass Rental Assistance Program. They work closely with both families and landlords to navigate the housing search process.
Responsibilities
- Develop positive relationships with families to foster trust and support.
- Coach families through the housing search process, including attending open house visits and communicating with landlords.
- Create and maintain relationships with landlords, acting as a liaison between the client and the landlord/property manager.
- Maintain regular contact with clients and landlords/property managers through meetings, emails, and phone calls.
- Manage and update client files, ensuring they are both paper and electronic.
- Perform unit inspections and prepare certification reports.
Qualifications
- Valid CA Driver’s license required, with approval as a Zipcar driver.
- High-level proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Experience with housing navigation and search.
- Understanding of issues faced by low-income families and those experiencing homelessness.
- Strong sense of professionalism and advocacy.
- Outstanding work habits: punctuality, communication, reliability, cooperation, professionalism.
- Knowledge of social service resources in the Bay Area.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Skills

Pay and Schedule
- Salary range: $33.33 per hour.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, primarily during standard business hours; occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
Location
Fully in-person, located at 1240 Market Street in San Francisco, and in the community.
