Primary Duties
- Recreation Assistant: Support our youth biking programs by:
- Assisting with learn-to-ride and mountain bike skills workshops
- Leading small groups in fun, skill-building activities
- Encouraging participation and creating a positive, inclusive environment
- Helping with basic bike maintenance (inflating tires, helmet fitting, gear checks)
- Serving as a mentor and role model for youth
- Supporting community events and outreach
- Recreation Program Leader II: Take on a leadership role by:
- Leading mountain bike rides and skills instruction
- Designing and implementing program curriculum
- Training and supervising part-time staff and volunteers
- Managing equipment inventory and maintenance
- Building relationships with schools and community partners
- Supporting community events and outreach
- Tracking program metrics and maintaining records
Qualifications
- Recreation Assistant: Must be at least 16 years old, passion for working with youth, positive attitude and team spirit, ability to pass a background check completed by the City of Auburn, and ability to complete First Aid/CPR.
- Recreation Program Leader II: Must be at least 21 years old, ability to pass a background check completed by the City of Auburn, strong mountain biking, road biking and leadership skills, self-starter with program development experience, ability to complete First Aid/CPR, clean driving record and ability to drive a passenger van. Training is provided.
Additional Information
- Recreation Assistant: Bike Maintenance Assistance, Ride Leader, Special Events.
- Recreation Program Leader II: Oversee bike inventory, plan and implement program curriculum, measure program metrics, lead youth on mountain bike trails, assist with basic skills instruction, assist with assessing participant skill levels, assist with community outreach events, provide day-to-day supervision, maintain program records, conduct basic trail maintenance.
