About the role

Responsible for ensuring a consistent flow of services to guests by assisting cocktail servers and bartenders. Maintains cleanliness and organization in bar and lounge areas to meet Health Department standards.

Responsibilities

• Remove dirty ashtrays and used glassware from bar tops, bar areas, and floors
• Clear and wipe down tables in lounge areas without a cocktail server
• Maintain par stock levels by ordering all bar supplies
• Receive and deliver products to appropriate outlets and stock according to specifications
• Stock and re-stock bars throughout shift with supplies, glasses, and ice
• Stock server wells with all required products and supplies
• Cut fruit to specification and prepare condiment caddies
• Collect trash from all outlets, wipe down walls behind trash containers
• Distribute clean bar towels and collect soiled ones
• Collect excess glasses from bars and restock them in appropriate outlets
• Organize and clean pump rooms, coolers, and storage areas
• Sweep and mop pump room, coolers, and storage area floors
• Soak and clean soda bag-in-box hoses and nozzles
• Replace and rotate draught beer kegs, liquor, and soda bag-in-boxes
• Assist bartenders with orders using courteous, professional interactions (greeting, eye contact, using guest names, remembering preferences)
• Prepare beverages promptly and accurately to specification
• Handle guest issues professionally and communicate concerns to management
• Check IDs of guests who appear under 30
• Monitor bar to ensure timely beverage service for all guests
• Provide guests with property information, promotions, programs, and attractions
• Maintain a professional, neat appearance and courteous attitude
• Assist coworkers as needed and act as a role model
• Complete all assigned duties and adhere to department/company policies, procedures, and regulatory laws
• Support and promote superior customer service and company standards
• Maintain valid WV racing license, Food Handlers permit, and TIPS certifications

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence
• Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, percentages
• Ability to follow detailed written/oral instructions and solve standardized problems
• Licensed by the West Virginia Racing Commission
• Must obtain Food Handler Certification and TIPS/TOPs certification

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance
• Must regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds
• Vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Occasionally exposed to smoke, humidity, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock risk, and moderate noise levels

Pay

Initial placement within the salary range is based on relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is one component of a competitive Total Rewards package.
