Benefits Payment Supervisor
About the role
The Benefits Payment Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Benefits Payment team within the Retirement Department. This team manages the distribution and reconciliation of retirement benefits across multiple pension funds while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and exceptional service. The Supervisor leads staff, monitors operational performance, supports key departmental initiatives, and serves as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and develop team members by assigning work, monitoring productivity, and fostering a professional and collaborative work environment.
- Execute tactical plans established by management to support departmental goals, objectives, and operational excellence.
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from government agencies, auditors, pension boards, attorneys, participants, and other stakeholders.
- Generate and analyze weekly reports and data exports from Salesforce and Vitech to track team performance, operational metrics, and workflow efficiency.
- Coordinate onboarding and training activities for new employees to ensure successful integration and knowledge transfer.
- Manage and oversee the Year-End Tax Process and Vacation Check Process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
- Provide operational oversight and support to the Communication Management and Document Management teams, ensuring effective mailing campaigns, timely document processing, and efficient workflow management.
- Support fraud prevention initiatives and ensure adherence to established controls and procedures.
- Oversee benefit payment setup processing, taxation administration, and reconciliation activities for retirement plans.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with leadership to enhance operational effectiveness.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in retirement, pension administration, benefits administration, or related financial services environments.
- Prior pension industry experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated supervisory, team leadership, or work coordination experience.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

- Additional Skills: Strong customer service orientation, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), reporting and data analysis experience, experience with Salesforce, Vitech, or similar systems preferred

- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Pay
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $29.81/hr.
