About the Role
The Benefits Auditor ensures accuracy, compliance, and timely administration of employee benefit programs through detailed auditing, reconciliation, and billing support activities. This role conducts regular audits of benefit enrollments, deductions, and vendor data to identify and investigate discrepancies and ensure data integrity. The position performs bi-weekly audits to validate employee eligibility, enrollment changes, payroll deductions, and benefit plan records across HRIS, payroll, and vendor systems while maintaining compliance with company policies and federal and state laws.
Responsibilities
- Maintain internal database files and tables and develop custom reports to meet company management and staff requirements.
- Serve as the primary billing contact for benefit plan vendors and third-party administrators.
- Audit and reconcile monthly benefit vendor invoices and resolve discrepancies with carriers.
- Process HSA and retirement plan contributions.
- Audit benefits accounts, including HSA account closure and COBRA.
- Process employee Medical and Dental/Vision credit audits.
- Evaluate benefit eligibility according to benefit plan documents and state and federal laws.
- Conduct biweekly ADP new hire and payroll change entry audits.
- Manage the COBRA benefit program, including processing COBRA notices, enrollments, coverages, terminations, reporting, and premium payments.
- Maintain ACA compliance and reporting, audits, and correct 1095C forms at year-end.
- Manage the annual HR Benefits Portfolio project, including reporting, auditing, and ADP upload.
- Manage and monitor electronic data interchange (EDI) eligibility and enrollment feeds between ADP and insurance carriers; investigate and correct eligibility, coverage, and demographic data errors affecting carrier feeds.
- Support ADP HR Benefits module updates, including benefit plan setup, benefit providers, new hire and open enrollment profiles, rate structure, and benefit settings.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all employee and payroll information and files.
- Process ADP changes per approved PAF, including schedule changes and telework changes.
- Assist with annual updates to the Benefits Guidebook.
- Assist with annual benefit open enrollment, including enrolling and deleting individuals on benefit plans, changing benefit status, and reviewing enrollment forms for accuracy.
- Back up the Benefits Coordinator/Program Coordinator as needed.
- Collaborate with Training and Development to provide necessary training resources/support.
- Update and/or order and distribute compliance posters.
- Assist with employee separation meetings or termination packets.
- Assist with Worker’s Compensation claim requests.
- Support researching, scheduling, and organizing the Flu Shot Clinic.
- Lead, assign, and participate in special projects as needed.
- Assist in planning and coordinating employee events and activities.
- Assist with EEO-1 compliance and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred; three (3) to five (5) years of experience in employee benefits administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Advanced knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and ADP Benefits Solutions.
- Typing speed of 40 wpm and proficient use of a 10-key calculator.
- Knowledge of general office business machine operation.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for 8+ hours/day.
- More than 80% of work time may be spent in front of a computer monitor.
- Includes frequent, repetitive motion such as computer typing and sitting/standing for most of the day.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move objects of varying size, weighing up to 25 lbs.
Pay
Hiring range: $88,154.59 - $110,193.23
