About the role

Bell Door Attendants at Thompson Central Park New York are in constant communication with the Front Office and Valet to ensure guests are escorted and their luggage and personal items are transported efficiently. This highly visible role provides opportunities for casual conversation and hotel or local recommendations, ensuring guests are comfortable with their accommodations and familiar with room offerings and features.

Responsibilities

• Meets and greets guests upon arrival.
• Hails cabs for guests and assists with luggage transport between vehicles and the lobby.
• Escorts guests to their rooms, highlighting hotel services and amenities along the way.
• Places luggage inside guest rooms and explains room amenities.
• Transfers luggage during room changes and checks luggage in/out of the luggage room.
• Loads and unloads luggage for departures and arrivals, including for groups.
• Pages guests in the lobby area and escorts them outside upon check-out.
• Assists with guest mail and package delivery as needed.
• Ensures all luggage is properly tagged and stored neatly in the luggage room.
• Counts luggage, prepares luggage slips, and logs for group check-ins and check-outs.
• Assists guests with information or directs them to the appropriate department.
• Assigns last bell/door attendant to complete room changes and mail/message distribution.
• Calls garage valet for car pickups and provides garage/check stubs to the Front Office.
• Clears the legal loading zone of any vehicles.

Qualifications

• Essential: 6 to 12 months of experience as a Bell or Doorperson in a luxury, medium-sized hotel (or equivalent experience/education).
• Clear use of spoken English.
• Desirable: Fluency in English, multilingual abilities, or a high school diploma/GED.

Skills

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry in excess of 75 lbs.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Tact and discretion in guest interactions.

Pay

$22.81 - $30.42 per hour.
