Behavioral Health Therapist Lead - Children's Behavioral Health Center - Intensive Outpatient Program (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Behavioral Health Therapist Lead will be responsible for independently providing clinical supervision and therapeutic services to adult or pediatric patients at OU Health. The role involves conducting therapeutic interviews, providing psychotherapy counseling, developing collaborative care plans, and connecting patients with resources.

Responsibilities

• Conducts therapeutic interviews and gathers needed information.
• Provides education on mental health diseases, treatments, and social situations.
• Develops and facilitates patient support or therapy groups.
• Provides psychotherapy counseling using evidence-based modalities.
• Documents counseling services and interactions according to standards.
• Monitors and evaluates patient outcomes and therapeutic progress.
• Connects patients and their families with resources and documents sessions.
• Acts as a liaison between patients, families, and other agencies.
• Assists patients with referrals, placements, or transfers.
• Supports patients through adverse reactions or adjustments to illness or treatment.
• Utilizes trauma-informed care and acts as a patient advocate.
• Prepares statistics and participates in case consultations and team meetings.
• Follows departmental standard operating procedures for scheduling and other processes.
• Signs documentation in a timely manner.
• Learns and leads supervision sessions as assigned.
• Mentors and leads students or precept new employees.
• Arranges and communicates supervision coverage when unavailable.

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited institution in social work, counseling, or psychology.
• 5 or more years of postgraduate counseling experience in a healthcare setting.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) certified by the Board of Analyst Certification (BACB).
• Ability to provide clinical supervision per Oklahoma licensing board requirements.

• Expert knowledge of individual and group psychotherapy, social and psychological casework, community resources, and current social and economic conditions.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws related to patient confidentiality.
• Understanding of case management fundamentals and technical/procedural aspects.
• Ability to resolve complex issues, make decisions, and seek management advice when necessary.
• Discretion and ability to handle stressful situations and complete projects in a timely manner.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to explain technical data to patients, families, and hospital staff.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and facilitate open dialogue.
