Behavioral Health Therapist

About the role

The Behavioral Health Therapist at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital assesses the social, psychological, cultural, environmental, and financial situation, as well as disposition needs, for each assigned patient. They collaborate with patients, families, healthcare team members, and community agencies to develop and implement plans to address identified needs. They evaluate the effectiveness of these plans and initiate changes as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the social, psychological, cultural, environmental, and financial situation of each patient.
• Collaborate with patients, families, healthcare team members, and community agencies to develop and implement plans to address identified needs.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented plans and make adjustments as needed.
• Assess and address the disposition needs of each patient.

Requirements

• Master's Level Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• Prior related experience (preferred).
• Prior acute psychiatric, hospital, or inpatient psych experience (strongly preferred).

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required within 90 days of hire).
• Preferred certifications: Addiction, Screening Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.
• Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Pay

Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually.
