About the role
Provides direct and indirect psychiatric care under RN supervision to patients of all ages, utilizing therapeutic communication and age-appropriate interventions. Engages with patients, families, and healthcare team members to communicate findings and support patient education while addressing patients' physical, emotional, social, and cultural needs.
Responsibilities
- Assists with patient data collection, assessment, and care planning.
- Monitors patient status, behaviors, and vital signs, documenting observations accurately.
- Administers medications per physician orders, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Uses de-escalation, restraint, and seclusion techniques when necessary to manage aggression.
- Facilitates admission, discharge, and intake procedures.
- Performs routine safety checks and environment monitoring to prevent harm.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred.
- Prior experience in mental healthcare is advantageous.
- Must possess or obtain relevant licensure (LVN/LPN or Psychiatric Technician).
- Certification in aggression management and CPR/BLS is required.
