About the role

Provides direct and indirect psychiatric care under RN supervision to patients of all ages, utilizing therapeutic communication and age-appropriate interventions. Engages with patients, families, and healthcare team members to communicate findings and support patient education while addressing patients' physical, emotional, social, and cultural needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with patient data collection, assessment, and care planning.
  • Monitors patient status, behaviors, and vital signs, documenting observations accurately.
  • Administers medications per physician orders, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Uses de-escalation, restraint, and seclusion techniques when necessary to manage aggression.
  • Facilitates admission, discharge, and intake procedures.
  • Performs routine safety checks and environment monitoring to prevent harm.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in mental healthcare is advantageous.
  • Must possess or obtain relevant licensure (LVN/LPN or Psychiatric Technician).
  • Certification in aggression management and CPR/BLS is required.

Skills
