Behavioral Health Technician (LPT) - Part Time, Days

About the Role

Provides direct and indirect psychiatric care to individual or groups of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsible for patient data collection, implementing age-appropriate interventions, and supporting therapeutic activities using effective communication skills. Assists with patient admissions, discharges, and safety monitoring, documenting patient conditions and responses to care.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications following physician orders and communicate with healthcare team members about patient status.
  • Ensure a safe environment by observing, reporting, and intervening as needed.
  • Use de-escalation and restraint techniques when necessary.
  • Conduct patient assessments, monitor mental and physical health, and document findings.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
  • Assist with patient education and safety procedures.
  • Perform routine rounding and environmental safety checks.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate's/Technical Degree preferred.
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) required.
  • Relevant certifications including Techniques for Effective Aggression Management or Crisis Prevention Intervention, and BLS.
  • Experience in mental health settings preferred.
