Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is a non-traditional role providing intense individualized mental health interventions and support services in community-based settings to children/adolescents with psychiatric diagnoses and their families. Settings include home, school, and community locations such as camp or daycare.
About the role
The BHT is supervised by a Qualified Mental Health Professional, participates as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, and implements specific treatment goals. The goal is to enable children/adolescents to maintain and function to the best of their ability in the least restrictive setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide intense individualized mental health interventions and support services in various community-based settings.
- Implement specific treatment goals as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Support children/adolescents with psychiatric diagnoses and their families.
Requirements
- Must meet one of the following:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and ability to complete 40+ hours of training, OR
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in provision of behavioral health services, OR
- Behavioral Health Certification or Behavior Analysis Certification from an accredited organization, OR
- Certification as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT).
- RBT 40-hour training course will be required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience using an electronic health record (EHR) system is a plus.
- CPR/First Aid Certification is a plus.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance coverage required.
- Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) is a plus.
Schedule
- Up to 40 hours per week.
- Flexible schedule; non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends.
Pay
- Hourly rate: $18.00.
