About the role

The Office of Behavioral Health Services (OBHS) is responsible for providing necessary behavioral health services to youth in Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facilities. This includes mental health, general counseling, case management, sexually harmful behaviors, and substance abuse treatment. OBHS also oversees the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program in secure facilities, ensuring its implementation and fidelity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health, general counseling, and substance abuse treatment services to youth in DJJ facilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment and service plans for each youth based on their unique needs.
  • Oversee the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program in secure facilities.
  • Ensure services align with current best practices and meet the specific needs of youth in DJJ secure facilities.

Requirements

All applicants must have a relevant degree and/or certification in behavioral health, counseling, or a related field. Experience working with youth in correctional settings is preferred but not required. Applicants must be able to work flexible hours and travel to various locations within the state.
