Behavioral Health Clinician Flex

About the role

The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for direct patient care and safety including diagnostic, assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for children, adolescents, and their families in Outpatient, Inpatient or Emergency Department settings.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and management of children and adolescents by developing and implementing treatment and intervention plans and conducting needs assessment to gather patient information.
• Provides crisis intervention to families and provides interventions with families to support discharge to home and stabilization.
• Develops a therapeutic relationship with patients and families to assist with psychological problems.
• Completes diagnostic behavioral health assessments for treatment or crisis intervention.
• Compiles and analyzes data and prepares case records, reports, and documents that comply with state and federal standards in providing case notes, treatment plans, and evaluations.
• Collaborates with other disciplines or departments on patient care and unit safety and serves as a liaison with multi-disciplinary care teams and external community agencies to identify, implement, and monitor treatment goals.
• Presents case presentations and provides consultation to medical teams and callers.
• Captions admissions to programs within the Pediatric Mental Health Institute or community programs and coordinates treatment with internal and external services.
• Attends educational in-services for Behavioral Health Clinicians.
• Participates in unit committees and educational offerings; complies with all policies and procedures related to the Pediatric Mental Health Institute and the hospital; and provides customer service as related to the Mental Health field.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in psychology, social work or related field.
• Experience: 2 years in a mental health setting/agency.
• Certification(s): American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or ASHI Basic Life Support for Health Providers.
• Licensure: State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor; Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment.
