About the Role
Behavior Specialist supporting elementary and middle school students in a Special Education setting.
Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor positive behavior support programs.
- Reinforce positive behaviors and redirect negative behaviors.
- Maintain accurate records and analyze behavioral data.
- Collaborate with IEP teams to develop and adjust support strategies.
- Provide classroom support and conduct behavioral assessments.
- Develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Respond to crises using de-escalation techniques and ensure safety protocols.
- Document incidents and maintain compliance with reporting requirements.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Supervise students during various activities and assist with instructional tasks.
- Contribute to program improvements and student success initiatives.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or higher in a related field.
- Current or pending paraprofessional or similar license.
- Preferred RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) certification.
- Experience with behavioral support, ABA principles, and working with children with disabilities, including autism and emotional/behavioral disorders.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency with technology and data management.
- Ability to respond calmly in emergencies and adapt to changing priorities.
