About the Role
Behavior Specialist supporting elementary and middle school students in a Special Education setting.
Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor individual, group, and system-wide positive behavior interventions.
- Reinforce positive behaviors, redirect negative behaviors, and model effective strategies for staff.
- Maintain detailed records of behavior strategies and intervention plans.
- Collect and analyze behavioral data to track student progress and support IEP goals.
- Support classroom staff in behavior management and classroom activities.
- Apply ABA principles under supervision to improve student outcomes.
- Conduct behavioral observations and develop functional behavior assessments and intervention plans.
- Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety protocols.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development.
- Support students during school activities and supervise as needed.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
- Current or pending paraprofessional or similar credential; RBT certification preferred.
- Experience working with children with learning disabilities, autism, or behavioral disorders.
- Knowledge of ABA, FBA, BIP, and PBIS strategies.
- Strong communication, organization, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to respond calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
- Proficiency with technology and data management tools.
