About the Role

A vacancy exists for a Behavior Mentor within the Student Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit, located at the Engle Education Center in West Grove, PA. Responsibilities

• Implement universal expectations and established consequences for all students, while providing individualized modifications for students with specific programming.
• Work independently with students to reinforce and practice newly taught replacement behaviors.
• Support students in generalizing learned replacement behaviors to new learning environments.
• Implement personal emergency interventions for students placing themselves or others at imminent risk, after demonstrating competency in the skills.
• Serve as a liaison between the Behavior Consultant/Behavior Analyst and classroom staff to ensure faithful implementation of students' Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs).
• Model proactive, evidence-based strategies for classroom staff.
• Collect data on current IEP goals, interventions, discipline referrals, and ABC data for Functional Behavior Assessments.
• Generate data tracking systems in collaboration with classroom staff to graphically represent student progress.
• Maintain student paperwork, including IEP overview documents, personal information, PBSP highlights, goals with tracking sheets, and pertinent data tools.
• Arrange the learning environment to support students' success.
• Enter daily data into provided templates and discipline referrals into the Student Information System.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with students with significant emotional and behavioral needs, and ability to relate well to the adolescent population.
• Experience working in schools and with community agencies servicing children.
• Registered Behavior Technician certification and Safety Care certification (opportunities to earn upon hiring).

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 210 days/year (2026-2027)

• Step 1 - $27.82
• Step 2 - $28.83
• Step 3 - $29.83
• Step 4 - $30.84
• Step 5 - $31.85
• Step 6 - $32.85
• Step 7 - $33.86

Placement is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role.
