Behavior Health Specialist

The Behavioral Health Specialist supports the milieu by facilitating therapeutic skills and activity groups, providing therapeutic meal support at mealtimes and snacks, assisting clients in acquiring skills to manage their eating disorder, maintaining a recovery-oriented environment, and providing general support and assistance.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates therapy groups including skills groups (including CBT and DBT), self-monitoring groups, and experiential activity groups which may include art activities, music, journaling, mindfulness, relaxation, and movement.
- Participates in therapeutic supported meals and snacks.
- Provides milieu support.
- Contributes to the creation and maintenance of a recovery-oriented therapeutic environment.
- Participates in treatment team, mini team, therapy team, and/or case consultation meetings.
- Completes clinical documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in a mental, behavioral, counseling, or behavioral sciences health-related field is strongly preferred. OR An associate’s degree may be considered if combined with equivalent experience in the mental or behavioral health field. Regardless of degree, a minimum of 1 years of direct patient care experience in a mental/behavioral health setting is required.
Other Qualifications: Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites must have a valid driver’s license and be authorized to drive. Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire. Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
