Responsibilities

  • Support the general administration of School Age Programs for before and after school care at selected school sites.
  • Lead the training and orientation of all School Age Program Staff in the Region by serving at training sites.
  • Day-to-day general administration of a program including the safety of all children, staff supervision, budgeting, expense control, income generation, program development and quality control, community relations, collaborations, long-range planning and facility maintenance.
  • Provide direction and leadership for the achievement of Association goals in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the Board.

Core and Strategic Functions

  • High Quality Programs, Services and Facilities:
    • Direct and administer total operation of the School Age Program sites assigned including the interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operation.
    • Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct.
    • Ensure the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment by keeping supplies organized, maintaining and cleaning facility and care for equipment.
    • Promote and monitor membership and/or program growth, taking a leadership role in membership cultivation and retention.
    • Affirm facilitated activities are safe, engaging and age appropriate for program participants.
    • Review all records and data on each child, employee and volunteer to maintain accuracy.
    • Effectively handle all emergency incidents and submit proper documentation that may occur in YMCA programs, using mature, sound judgment.
  • Staff and Volunteer Management:
    • Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers through use of Leadership Competency Model resources that create a culture of cause-driven leaders.
    • Lead and/or participate in a branch related committee(s).
    • Support Y Community Champions efforts.
    • Aid in training all staff to include awareness and understanding of YMCA programs, services, and customer service skills.
  • Finance:
    • Prepare annual site budget for approval by the Executive Director.
    • Recommend adjustments and administer the budget, exercising necessary expense controls and revenue production.
    • Provide monthly variance reports to Executive Director.
    • Manage collection of fees weekly and report weekly balances to Executive Director.
  • Community Development:
    • Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
    • Promote and communicate the objectives and programs of the YMCA through public communication media.
    • Actively participate in a community committee(s).
  • Financial Development:
    • Incorporate storytelling in an effort to advance our mission and cause.
    • Identify and recruit Annual Campaign volunteers.
    • Lead and/or participate in branch special events for fund raising or mission advancement.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in youth development, preferably in a non-profit setting.

Skills: Strong organizational and administrative skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
