About the Role

The BD Account Manager is responsible for generating new business opportunities and managing the sales pipeline. This role involves identifying and qualifying prospective clients, conducting outreach and initial consultations, and supporting the overall sales process.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, research, and qualify potential new clients within the pharmaceutical, biotech industry.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with prospective clients through phone, email, and virtual meetings.
  • Conduct needs assessments to understand client requirements and pain points.
  • Present the company's services, capabilities, and value proposition effectively.
  • Manage the sales pipeline and maintain accurate records in the CRM system.
  • Provide timely updates to the sales leadership on pipeline activity and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Business Development Managers / Directors to ensure smooth handoff of qualified leads.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitor activities, and new developments to identify new opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Attend and actively participate in Emerald Clinical meetings and other internal meetings and activities as required.
  • Provide input to systems, tools, and processes to support continuous improvement.
  • Share knowledge with others to facilitate learning and development across the organization.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of successful experience in inside sales, business development, or account management.
  • Previous experience in the contract research or pharmaceutical/biotech industries is highly regarded.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to engage clients effectively.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and sales productivity tools.
  • Familiarity with the clinical research industry and the challenges faced by sponsors.
  • Excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and processes related to clinical trials.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and building a strong pipeline.
  • Excellent negotiation and closing skills.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, pharmacy, or business administration.
  • Experience: 2+ years of successful experience in inside sales, business development, or account management.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, proficiency in CRM software and sales productivity tools, familiarity with the clinical research industry, knowledge of regulatory requirements and processes related to clinical trials, excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and time management skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, proven track record of exceeding sales targets and building a strong pipeline, excellent negotiation and closing skills.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
