About the Role
Coach baseball in a secondary school athletic program. This position description reflects essential job elements and may include any combination of the functions listed below.
Responsibilities
- Promote the sport within the schools and community.
- Plan and organize the baseball program, including practices.
- Teach individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy, and rules and regulations of the game.
- Teach good sportsmanship, self-control, and positive values.
- Check eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
- Provide students with a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude, and general guidance.
- Demonstrate a positive image of the district to parents and the community.
- Show concern for the education, growth, and development of each student.
- Develop a positive relationship between home and school.
- Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes.
- Adhere to Newport Board of Education Policies and Procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Assist other coaches as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED certification (preferred).
- 21 years of age or older.
- Must meet requirements of a criminal records check and child abuse background check as specified by KY State Law.
- Successful completion of all training courses as specified by KHSAA.
- Demonstrates knowledge of sporting rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Ability to work effectively with students, peers, and parents.
Pay
Paid per the approved athletic extra-service salary schedule.
Schedule
Seasonal position.
