About the role
The Bartender is responsible for providing a level of service that is gracious, kind, and warm, creating an exciting environment and delivering World Class Service with Old-World Hospitality and Charm for casino guests. The position maintains high standards of cleanliness according to food service sanitation codes, serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, demonstrates extensive menu knowledge, takes guest orders, anticipates guests' needs, delivers orders, and processes payments. Focus on departmental goals of consistency, quality, and sense of urgency.
Responsibilities
- Be punctual to pre-shift meetings with a positive attitude and participate openly
- Consistently provide an exciting environment and World Class Service by delivering Old-World Hospitality with Old-World Charm, while living the company core values
- Comply with department standards, guidelines, and objectives, including adherence to all Food Service and Sanitation, OSHA, and Hazcom standards
- Provide consistent high-quality food and beverage service to all guests by adhering to sequence of service standards
- Utilize "upselling" techniques and adhere to all standardized recipes
- Safeguard company assets and adhere to all policies and procedures
- Maintain accountability for all funds entrusted during an assigned shift and create teamwork by assisting co-workers
- Balance all money transactions and paperwork, and prepare reconciliation reports
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including attendance and appearance guidelines, and maintain confidentiality regarding guest information
- Be alert for fraud, forged/counterfeit currency, and/or vouchers
- Practice all alcohol awareness policies and procedures
- Maintain a clear and organized work area, cleaning as you go and addressing spills immediately
- Responsibly use and ensure all chemicals are in properly labeled containers
- Assist supervisors in putting supplies away, adhering to the 5S Principles (Sort, Set in Order, Systematically Clean, Standardize, Sustain), and dating all items with the current date
- Conduct yourself in a gracious, kind, and warm manner that creates a sense of fondness, as well as a professional, courteous, and responsive demeanor reflecting positively on the company
- Perform other duties as assigned by department and/or company management
Requirements
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior bartending experience preferred
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Maintain confidential information
Skills
- Accurately calculate figures and amounts and perform mathematical functions applicable to business needs
- Interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
- Flexibility to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekend hours, and overtime as business needs dictate
- Physical mobility with reasonable accommodations, including the ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 25 lbs
- Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Attend required training sessions offered by the casino
- Obtain required license(s)
- Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations
- Take necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble, loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco
- Knowledge of ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the department
- Knowledge of the property’s programs to address problem gambling
- Consult with appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with state regulations and Systems of Internal Controls
- Investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations, and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management
- Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any staff member that you have knowledge of
