Position Summary

The Barista is responsible for creating the Starbucks Experience for guests in the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art by providing legendary customer service, preparing high-quality beverages and food items, and maintaining a clean, welcoming café environment. This position serves as a brand ambassador by delivering exceptional service and ensuring all products are prepared according to Starbucks standards. The Barista plays an important role in creating memorable guest experiences within a fast-paced convention center environment. This role pays an hourly rate of $19.00-$24.00 and is tip eligible.

About The Venue

Oak View Group is proud to operate the food and beverage program at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. The hospitality operation features a diverse portfolio of dining experiences, including a multi-concept café, a modern luxury restaurant, a licensed Starbucks location, and a robust special events catering program. The team is dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences through outstanding food, service, and hospitality within one of the nation's premier cultural destinations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve Starbucks beverages, including espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, teas, and specialty beverages, according to Starbucks recipes and standards.
  • Provide friendly, engaging, and efficient customer service to all guests.
  • Accurately process transactions using the point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain product quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
  • Restock coffee, beverages, food items, cups, syrups, and other supplies throughout shifts.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, equipment, workstations, dining areas, and storage areas.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setup, cleaning, and inventory tasks.
  • Monitor product levels and communicate inventory needs to supervisors.
  • Resolve guest concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support team members during high-volume periods and special events.
  • Maintain knowledge of Starbucks products, promotions, and menu offerings.

Qualifications

  • Previous customer service, food service, coffee shop, café, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Starbucks experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Basic cash handling and point-of-sale experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn beverage recipes and preparation techniques.
  • Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and event-based shifts.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
