About the role

Renaissance Allentown seeks Banquet Servers to join our team. The role involves setting up, serving, and breaking down banquets safely and efficiently, complying with food handling, policies, and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-function meetings to learn about function particulars and guest expectations.
  • Know the menu for each function and explain major ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Set up banquet tables according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO), including draping, silverware, napkin folding, drink preparation, and centerpiece setting.
  • Ensure cleanliness of linens, silverware, and glassware.
  • Set tables professionally and uniformly, manage buffets, and greet guests following policies and procedures.
  • Assist with all aspects of service, report incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired conditions to management, and follow check and payment policies.
  • Break down buffet or other special food service tables/equipment, complete assigned side work, and perform cleaning duties.
  • Be punctual and presentable, attend department meetings, maintain a professional attitude, and communicate effectively with guests, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Report incidents of guest dissatisfaction or unusual matters to management, comply with policies, and adhere to safety and emergency procedures.
  • Write shift reports, including reports on incidents of theft, accidents, or injuries, and perform special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school education plus one or more years of related experience.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and familiarity with hospitality industry practices are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and provide friendly guest service.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling, serving techniques, and federal, state, and local serving guidelines.
  • Ability to process checks and payments in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ability to compile facts/figures, identify and investigate issues, and resolve basic matters.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures and take appropriate action based on them.
  • Proficiency in using computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment.
  • Attention to details, organizational skills, and efficient time management.
  • Professional attitude, effective listening and communication skills, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle if required.
