About the role
Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, is seeking a Part-Time Banquet Captain at the Oklahoma City Convention Center. This position is responsible for supervision and coordination of banquet servers, ensuring prompt food service and high guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate activities of banquet servers during banquets.
- Stay in contact with the host (on-site contact) throughout the event to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English.
- Make quick and accurate decisions.
- Consult with Banquet Manager regarding serving arrangements and additional employees and equipment required.
- Meet with Chef on Duty at the start of every shift to review banquet event orders.
- Meet with clients prior to the event to review menu and itinerary.
- Anticipate and respond to customer needs promptly.
- Motivate staff, resolve conflicts, and exceed guest expectations.
- Conduct lineup with staff at the start of each shift.
- Inspect uniforms, menus, and event itineraries, and provide training.
- Prepare Captain's Reports detailing the function and comments from the host.
- Promote and maintain the highest level of customer service.
- Determine when a guest should not receive additional alcoholic beverages.
- Inspect function space before the event to ensure cleanliness, organization, and ambiance.
- Ensure food is correctly garnished and arranged.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable laws.
- Ensure front and back of the house are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Complete all paperwork and closing duties in accordance with departmental standards.
- Notify Manager when supplies are low.
- Provide feedback on staff performance to manager and report disciplinary problems.
- Foster a cooperative working climate and maximize productivity and employee morale.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year's experience as a banquet server or banquet captain
- Food Handler's and Alcohol Awareness Certificate preferred
- Previous supervisory experience preferred

- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

- Computer skills to perform basic tasks
