About Our Property
The Hanover Inn has a rich legacy of hospitality stretching back to 1780 when the Inn first welcomed guests as a Tavern. Notable guests have included Presidents Monroe, Wilson, F.D.R., Eisenhower, Nixon, and Reagan. Entertainers have included Kirk Douglas, Ella Fitzgerald, Joan Baez, Art Linkletter, Mary Tyler Moore, Burt Bacharach, Duke Ellington, Lillian Gish and B.B. King. The list of writers includes F. Scott Fitzgerald, J.D. Salinger, Sinclair Lewis, Carl Sandburg, Robert Frost, and Dr. Seuss.
Responsibilities
- Set up for functions to include draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks and putting out table centerpieces.
- Serve food and beverages to guests, including picking up food from the back hall, carrying trays to function locations, and clearing food from tables.
- Break down functions by bussing tables, putting away dirty linen and centerpieces, and vacuuming.
- Clean the back hall and organize storerooms.
- Set up AM or PM break stations that include coffee, tea, snacks, beverages, etc.
- Assist as needed with event room setup according to meal period and table needs.
- Perform food & beverage preparation duties such as preparing condiments, brewing coffee, and ensuring workstations are stocked.
- Remove dishes, glasses, silverware, or other items from tables/countertops and take them to the kitchen.
- Clean and sanitize tables and/or counters and seats after guests are finished.
- Explain how various menu items are prepared, including cooking methods and ingredients.
- Take into consideration any special requests and dietary issues made by the guest.
- Provide general property information and offer a warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests.
- Interact with staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information.
- Ensure final quality check on food and beverage items prior to serving guests.
- Monitor assigned tables for customer satisfaction, quality, and additional service.
- Address any guest issue promptly and with high concern.
- Aid other events and restaurant staff as needed.
- Maintain constant awareness of safety issues (e.g., broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks, and suspicious persons).
Requirements
- 2–4 years of food service experience, preferably in Banquet service.
- Experience in a 4-star, 5-star venue with synchronized service.
- Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests.
- Excellent communication skills.
Pay
$70,000 – $75,000
