About the role
The Teller Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the customer service interactions and overseeing the Teller line. This position is also responsible for accurately processing transactions professionally and courteously and in accordance with bank and regulatory policy and procedure.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the activities of the teller area by scheduling staff, assigning work, answering questions, resolving problem, assisting with complex transactions and sensitive situations
- Affirms all tellers balance accurately and in a timely manner at the close of business day; affirms all monies are secured according to established security procedures; affirms all teller work is scanned and submitted in a timely manner
- Assists in hiring and training of new tellers
- Follows established processes and guidelines in daily activity and adheres to all application laws and regulations
- Represents the bank to the client in a courteous and professional manner and provides prompt, efficient and accurate service in the processing of transactions
- Receives checks and cash for deposits to accounts, verifies amounts, examines checks for proper endorsement, and enters deposits into computer records
- Aids in the bank-by-mail function
- Issues cashier’s checks and gift cards
- Receives consumer loan and other payments, and ensures the payments match balances due. Enters transactions into bank records via core processing system
- Responsible for checking night depository bags and recording proper information on the financial institution’s forms
- Maintains reports documenting teller outages, balances, and time cards
- Researches and resolves transaction/cash discrepancies
- Provides employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems
- Performs follow-up training with direct reports on a quarterly basis
- Evaluates employees’ job performance and completes performance reviews
- Issues and monitors disciplinary warnings and performance improvement plans action
- Mentors, observes, and coaches teller staff to ensure customer service is at optimal level
- Actively participates, attends, and holds team meetings
- Responsible for comprehensive, prompt, and efficient customer service
- Periodically audits teller drawer and monetary instruments as stated in teller manual
- Identifies opportunities for associates to enhance career development and recommends promotions or other change in status
- Resolves escalated complaints or disputes
- Aids other branches with coverage and/or questions when needed
- Represents the bank in a professional manner during and outside of office hours
- Responsible for ordering and sustaining necessary office supplies for teller area
- Demonstrates flexibility to perform every other duty as assigned
Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Be a self-starter and able to work independently possessing good effective time management skills and ability to organize and prioritize
- Be highly reliable with the ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality

- Have strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Be approachable and present a positive attitude
- Have high school diploma or equivalent
- Have at least 2 years previous banker and/or teller experience preferred
- Have a strong understanding of bank products and services
- Have at least 2 in a supervisory or lead role preferred
