This role focuses on delivering high-quality, member-facing banking service by providing the full range of deposit and lending products, as well as credit and debit card services. You will support members and prospective members with their financial needs, ensuring transactions are accurate, secure, and completed with exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide members and prospective members with information and support across the full range of banking products and services, including current accounts, savings accounts, certificate IRAs, revocable trust accounts, and estate accounts.
  • Process deposit and withdrawal transactions accurately, ensuring all cash handling activities follow established policies and procedures.
  • Support members with lending products by explaining options clearly and guiding them through the application process where required.
  • Assist members with credit and debit card services, including enquiries, issues, and basic maintenance requests.
  • Deliver professional, friendly, and confident customer-facing service, engaging proactively with members and prospective members.
  • Offer alternative solutions and think creatively to meet members’ needs, especially when initial requests cannot be fulfilled.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to account servicing, documentation, and transaction processing in an organized and timely manner.
  • Maintain a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail in all banking and administrative activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the branch to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive experience for all members.
  • Adapt to varying levels of foot traffic in the branch, managing time effectively during both busy and quieter periods.

Skills

  • Proven experience in customer service or customer support in a member-facing or client-facing environment.
  • Confidence in engaging with people and providing member service, with a willingness to initiate conversations.
  • Strong cash handling skills with a focus on accuracy and security.
  • Administrative skills, including the ability to manage documentation and routine office tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to think creatively and provide alternative solutions when needed, including handling rejection without losing confidence.
  • Self-confidence and a professional, approachable manner in all member interactions.
  • Some knowledge of banking services or prior experience in a financial environment.
  • Comfort working in a customer-facing role for extended periods, both standing and sitting as required.
  • Background in banking, financial services, or a related administrative role.
  • Experience working in a branch or similar on-site customer service environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing member needs and branch activity levels.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with clear and courteous interaction.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and enquiries during busy periods.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $21.42 - $21.42/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on factors including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Schedule

The schedule runs Monday to Saturday, with one day off during the week when working Saturdays.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site, contract position based in Portsmouth, VA. You will work in a branch environment, interacting directly with members throughout the day. The role involves both standing and sitting, depending on business needs and member foot traffic. The setting is professional and customer-focused, with routine use of standard banking and office equipment.
