The baler bagger operates baling machines to compress recyclable or waste materials into uniform bales, securing them with wire, twine, or other binding materials. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Operate baling machines to compress materials into bales of the correct size and weight
- Load and unload materials into the baler, ensuring proper alignment and flow for efficient operation
- Secure bales with wire, twine, or other binding materials, ensuring they are tightly bound and safe for handling
- Label bales accurately for identification and tracking
- Maintain equipment by performing routine checks, cleaning, and minor repairs; follow preventative maintenance schedules
- Weigh bales and log production data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company records
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear
- Cookordination with team members to maintain smooth workflow and meet production targets
- Keep work areas clean and organized to prevent jams or malfunctions
Requirements and Qualifications
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and forklifts
- Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and maintenance
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Good physical condition to lift, bend, and reach overhead (often up to 50 lbs)
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of recycling or waste management processes is a plus
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; forklift certification is a plus
