Baler Operator / Bagger

About the role

Interstate Waste Services in Danbury, CT is seeking a Baler Operator / Bagger for a full-time position Monday through Friday with some Saturdays. The position offers a union benefit package, early start times ranging from $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, and operates from a rail-served landfill in Ohio. IWS is a progressive provider of solid waste and recycling services catering to various industries.

Responsibilities

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Performing basic adjustments and preventative maintenance to ensure the machine is in good working order.
• Observing meters during operation and making adjustments to ensure bales meet quality and safety standards.
• Performs daily inspection of equipment.
• Maintains proper levels of material in bunkers.
• Changes baler settings for each commodity to be baled.
• Operates conveyors to bring materials from bunkers to baler.
• Activates the controls of baler to compress and wire tie bales.
• Trucks bales to storage place, weighs bales, and records weight.
• Keeps the work area and equipment clean and orderly.
• Keeps accurate production records on bales produced.
• Monitors the flow of materials and ensures they are loaded correctly into the baler.
• Bagging up the material after it has been pressed, packaging it up for its final destination.
• Reports any worker-public safety factors and/or equipment malfunctions.
• Attends weekly/monthly safety/operations meetings.

Requirements

• Experience with heavy equipment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Required to read and review operators manual prior to operation of equipment.

Pay

Salary Range: Minimum USD $20.00/Hr. Salary Range: Maximum USD $24.00/Hr.

Schedule

Full-time position Monday through Friday with some Saturdays.
