About the role

The Bakery Clerk position at Cosentino's is responsible for assisting customers in their shopping experience by efficiently producing, stocking, and packaging bakery items.

Responsibilities

• Know and implement Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards
• Courteously and efficiently assist customers by filling orders at the bakery counter
• Know department products, procedures, and policies to accurately and courteously answer customer questions
• Aid in merchandising products creatively and keep display cases clean and full
• Maintain productivity standards to achieve desired team and individual results
• Follow rotation procedures to ensure stale or outdated product is not used or purchased by customers
• Ensure the bakery is stocked, cleaned, and ready for the next shift or day’s business
• Work to keep the work area and department clean and safe for customers and coworkers
• Comply with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures for the department and store
• Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently
• Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer and peer interactions
• Show basic math and reading skills required for the position
• Promote sales by suggesting additional products or services
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and recognize when to involve store management
• Unload incoming shipments of bakery ingredients and stock them neatly without damaging merchandise
• Support the company by completing additional tasks, assisting other stores or departments, and gaining new skills when necessary

Requirements

• A food handling permit must be obtained within 14 days of employment
• Completion of ongoing training and development as outlined in the Cosentino’s Learning Plan

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
