Baggage Handler

Responsibilities

• Meet all arrivals as scheduled and assist passengers at baggage claim loading, unloading, carrying or otherwise transporting passenger luggage to and from specified areas.
• Aid in the proper handling of over-sized, unusually shaped luggage including skis, dog kennels, and strollers.
• Ensure passenger luggage is placed safely on the baggage handling system.
• Adhere to all airport and government policies and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with passengers, co-workers, shift coordinators, managers, and security personnel.

Qualifications

• Ability to read IATA tickets to determine flight departure times and connecting carriers.
• Screens all interline passengers prior to placing bags on the interline return belts.
• Ensures baggage tagging is correct.
• Directs and assists passengers with mischecked or short-checked bags.
• Handles misplaced/lost baggage claims and provides reports to Carriers.
• Evaluates customer's need concerning airline locations.
• Able to meet the Station’s attendance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year of prior work experience preferred
• One (1) year Warehouse experience
• Able to lift 50lbs plus

Pay

SALARY: $21.25/hr. The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
