Back-End/Full-Stack Developer
Capio Group is a California-based Information Technology Consulting firm serving the public sector since 2010. We assist the Government in delivering large, complex systems and solutions. We offer the salary and benefits of larger companies with the added bonus of a flexible workplace and a great work-life balance.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Back-End/Full-Stack Developer to work as part of a team maintaining, enhancing, and advancing a client Investment Data Warehouse (IDW) architecture/platform. This platform supports Generative Business Intelligence (GenBI), Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning (AI/ML) to provide deeper insights, predictive analytics, and automated decision-making capabilities within the AWS and Snowflake ecosystems. All work must adhere to client AI policies, technology governance, standards, and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Apply User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) design principles to build analytics dashboards using technologies such as Chainlit, Streamlit, and React.
- Create interactive reporting and storytelling based on data visualization best practices and human-centered design.
- Leverage Out-of-Box (OOB) services/functions/APIs (e.g., calling SNOWFLAKE.CORTEX functions via SQL or configuring AWS Bedrock Knowledge Bases) to accelerate use case design and implementation.
- Build automated tests to ensure the platform's Text-to-SQL engine accuracy.
- Perform continuous prompt engineering to guide and fine-tune the platform's system behavior.
- Execute statistical analysis, predictive analytics, and optimization; conduct AI/ML model prototyping using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
- Apply expertise in platform-specific semantic layers or dbt (Data Build Tool), advanced SQL, dimensional modeling (Star Schema), and cloud ML platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, GCP Vertex AI).
- Implement containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and operate CI/CD pipelines for ML and data workflows.
- Handle data integration, cleaning, and transformation processes.
- Monitor, tune, and log AI/ML and GenBI solutions, ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g., Airflow, Matillion), cloud data warehouses & lakes (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery), and cloud infrastructure automation (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Ensure the entire IDW ecosystem/solution is cost-effective, secure, and scalable.
- Provide technical leadership and solution guidance to project teams; act as a technical liaison among stakeholders, developers, third-party vendors, and tech support.
- Apply expertise in AI Infrastructure & Agentic Workflows/Orchestration, Generative AI Design Patterns, Cloud Strategy & FinOps, and Security & Compliance (AI Governance).
- Analyze solutions and technologies to make recommendations based on client needs.
- Monitor strategic direction of solution vendors, technology, and market trends; prepare presentations, documents, diagrams, and models to communicate analysis and recommendations.
- Transfer knowledge to client staff and provide requested materials for knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- At least seven (7) years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) field with extensive experience in report writing, data analysis, or database querying.
- At least five (5) years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or BI analytics.
- At least two (2) years of experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse), and orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt).
- At least two (2) years of experience in SQL (advanced joins, window functions, performance tuning), data modeling (star/snowflake schemas, semantic layers), and hands-on experience with at least one major BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
- At least two (2) years of hands-on experience in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines for ML and data workflows, monitoring and logging for ML and BI systems, and cloud infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible).
- For each applicable project meeting the requirements, provide client/user reference contact information (minimum of three references total). References must be in a management or supervisory role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related fields from an accredited or government-sanctioned college/university. A copy of the degree must be provided upon request.
- Hybrid work model requiring on-site presence 2 to 3 business days per week at the client headquarters in West Sacramento, CA.
Desired Skills
- Technical certifications in AWS, Snowflake, or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau); AI/ML or GenAI-related coursework or credentials. Certifications must be provided upon request.
- At least five (5) years of experience in front-end UX/UI design for analytics dashboards and highly interactive reporting.
- At least four (4) years of experience in development with React for building scalable, production-grade user interfaces.
- At least two (2) years of experience in front-end development with Chainlit or Streamlit for AI/ML or GenAI solutions with complex state management & data handling (e.g., real-time updates, UI states for loading, retries, and partial responses).
- Experience in latency handling, async UX patterns, explainable AI interfaces (confidence, sources, disclaimers), and prompt design basics.
- Hands-on experience building chat interfaces (streaming responses, token handling) and AI-assisted workflows (autocomplete, summarization, recommendations).
- At least three (3) years of experience working with AI/ML or GenAI technologies.
- At least one (1) year of hands-on experience using OpenAI APIs or similar LLM platforms, building natural language to SQL/query systems, designing prompt strategies for business insights, and prompt engineering.
- At least three (3) years of experience in semantic layer design, data modeling, and delivering enterprise semantic models across multiple teams.
- At least one (1) year of experience developing semantic models supporting natural language querying and AI-driven analytics (GenBI); statistical analysis, predictive analytics, and optimization.
