BA Functional Solution Architect
About the role
As a BA Functional Solution Architect, you will lead business analysis activities for payment initiatives that support banking organizations of varying size and complexity. You will work closely with Bank Product, Payment Operations, product architects, technical leads, and clients to define requirements, document functional solutions, and support delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the business analysis phase for payment projects, including planning analysis activities and coordinating deliverables across project stakeholders.
- Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements, then translate them into functional specifications and detailed test analysis for development teams.
- Partner with product architects and technical leads to define solution approaches that align with payment processing requirements, message standards, and operational needs.
- Document business analysis outputs and obtain stakeholder or client approval on requirements, scope, and functional designs.
- Design, specify, and execute business test scenarios to validate requirements, support quality gates, and confirm solution readiness.
- Communicate with client subject matter experts and system users to identify business needs, clarify requirements, and resolve product issues during development, workshops, and sales-related discussions.
- Facilitate scoping for client and prospect payment change initiatives with varying complexity across domestic and international clearing environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis within the payments industry supporting functional requirements, solution definition, and project delivery.
- 4+ years of experience in financial services with payment processing across US and international clearing frameworks such as SWIFT, Real-Time Payments (RTP), Automated Clearing House (ACH), Lynx, TIPS, TARGET2, or Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
- 4+ years of experience in analyzing payment flows including qualification processes, return flows, and exception handling.
- 4+ years of experience in mapping payment data to clearing message structures, including ISO 20022 MX formats.
- Experience with software development lifecycle practices, including quality gates, requirements documentation, and test analysis.
- Experience using Jira, Git, XML, and XML editing or validation tools.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.
Qualifications
- Experience in banking payment operations.
- Experience supporting client engagements and resolving client inquiries independently.
- Familiarity with payment change initiatives for banking clients across multiple clearing environments.

Pay
$90,000.00 - $144,000.00 These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
Schedule
This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
