About the role
The AWS Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and delivering technology solutions on AWS. This role will focus on migrating data from Oracle to AWS using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), managing batch and real-time data ingestion, and implementing core AWS services.
Responsibilities
- Migrate data from Oracle to AWS using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
- Manage batch and real-time data ingestion, including full loads, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming architectures
- Design and implement infrastructure and networking (VPC, subnets, security groups, routing) on AWS
- Implement core AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda) and manage infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation or Terraform)
- Develop ETL/ELT processes and data integration methodologies in cloud migration projects
- Configure and manage cloud network security, including VPNs, Direct Connect, and security groups
- Monitor and log using tools like AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail
- Create data migration and cutover plans, including rollback strategies and minimizing downtime
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including documenting technical designs and migration runbooks
- Work in public sector or state government environments, with experience in hybrid cloud/on-premises connectivity and legacy system modernization
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in IT, supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of technology solutions
- 8 years of experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to migrate data from Oracle to AWS
- 8 years of experience with batch and real-time data ingestion, including full loads, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming architectures
- 8 years of experience with AWS cloud services, specifically designing and implementing infrastructure and networking (VPC, subnets, security groups, routing)
- 8 years of experience with core AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda) and infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation or Terraform)
- 8 years of experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration methodologies in cloud migration projects
- 8 years of experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- 8 years of experience configuring and managing cloud network security, including VPNs, Direct Connect, and security groups
- 8 years of experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
- 8 years of experience developing data migration and cutover plans, including rollback strategies and minimizing downtime
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including documenting technical designs and migration runbooks
- Experience working in public sector or state government environments, with experience in hybrid cloud/on-premises connectivity and legacy system modernization
Qualifications
- 4 years of preferred AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database Specialty
