About the Role
CIAT prepares students for professional success by offering practical training in today's most competitive technology fields. We are seeking educators and professionals with a passion for mentoring others to teach synchronous online courses. This role is ideal for working professionals, as the class schedule works well even if you already have a daytime job.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams on Monday and Tuesday every week
- Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning and engagement
- Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student's needs
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students
- Maintain current certifications in subjects taught
Subject Matter Expertise
- Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline
- Connect their subject matter with related fields
- Stay current in their subject matter through professional development, professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, or workshops
Administrative & Compliance Duties
- Ensure Student Database is fully updated and accurate at all times regarding student attendance and grade record information
- Maintain compliance with accreditation related to instructional quality, scheduled class hours requirements, and CIAT policies and procedures
- Submit documentation: sign-in attendance, pre-post exams, lab sheets, student snapshots, and accreditation/state required documents
- Communicate to management requirements for textbooks, handouts, supplies, equipment, exam vouchers and other items needed with sufficient notice
- Promote collaboration with other staff members and participate in the implementation of new projects and ideas
- Adhere to CIAT business casual attire (neat, clean, without rips and holes; CIAT polo t-shirts and pressed jeans permitted; T-shirts, caps, hooded sweaters, and shorts not permitted)
Requirements
- Official transcripts of bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Current certification in one of the following: AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Security Specialty, AWS Database, or AWS Cloud Practitioner
- At least three years' experience in the respective field OR two years of teaching experience
- Synchronous online teaching experience preferred
- Advanced subject matter expertise preferred with a commitment to ongoing professional development
- Effective presentation, communication, and technology skills
- Good working knowledge of MS Office applications including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as learning technologies such as Canvas
- Work independently with minimal supervision, with a high level of dependability
- Ability to multitask and problem-solve rapidly and effectively in a timely manner
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, academic departments, and administration
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that respects diversity
- Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and didactic approaches in higher education
- Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and effective lesson plans
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Possess high ethical standards and be an example of professionalism
- Compliance with all college policies, procedures, and regulations
- Must be able to embody CIAT's mission, vision, and values
Schedule
Live classes are scheduled twice per week, on Monday and Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm (Pacific Time). Weekend and evening hours may be required. This is a variable-hour (part-time), non-exempt position with no supervisory responsibilities. Remote work must be performed while residing in California, New Mexico, Florida, or Massachusetts.
Pay
$40 - $48 USD per hour
