Based in Los Angeles, CA, the Awards & Special Events Department of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) supports the Guild’s signature events and educational initiatives that celebrate directorial achievement, strengthen member engagement, and advance the Guild’s mission.

About the role

The Awards & Special Events Coordinator supports the implementation of assigned DGA special events, including the DGA Awards, DGA Student Spotlight Awards, Digital Day, the Directors Guild Foundation Golf Tournament, and DGA Honors, as well as ongoing Special Projects Committee and Council events and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Vet submissions and prepare event materials
  • Monitor reservations and manage attendee communications
  • Provide program support and handle event logistics
  • Perform copy-editing and scheduling tasks
  • Collaborate across departments and manage on-site event operations
  • Create and execute event Run of Show (ROS) to ensure smooth event execution
  • Verify event setup several hours before start time
  • Act as a flexible team player, taking on diverse responsibilities to achieve shared goals
  • Remain active and on your feet for extended periods during event setup and execution, including transporting materials using a wheeled cart
  • Stay on-site until all attendees have departed and ensure the check-in area is cleaned and organized post-event
  • Work overtime, including nights and weekends, as necessary to complete essential tasks and staff events

Requirements

  • Exercise discretion and good judgment given proximity to members and sensitive information
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and multitasking skills
  • Effectively manage multiple projects, timelines, and budgets concurrently
  • Collaborate with and report to multiple managers on various projects
  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of relevant event experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong multitasking and organizational abilities
  • Professional phone etiquette
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud programs
  • Experience hosting Zoom webinars and meetings a plus
  • Love of film & television encouraged
