Our client is seeking an experienced AVP/VP, Insurance Capital & Actuarial Modeling Transformation professional to support the continued evolution of its insurance finance, capital, and actuarial capabilities. This is a business-side transformation role at the intersection of Actuarial, Finance/FP&A, Capital, Risk, Investments, Institutional BFO, Data, and Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior Finance, Capital, Actuarial, Risk, Institutional BFO, Investments, and Technology stakeholders to understand current-state modeling, forecasting, and reporting processes.
  • Interpret actuarial liability model outputs and understand their implications for financial projections, statutory capital, economic capital, and Bermuda capital requirements.
  • Develop a strong understanding of key model methodologies, assumptions, inputs, and outputs, including areas such as BEL, policyholder behavior, liability cash flows, and capital requirements.
  • Support capital forecasting and scenario analysis across GAAP, Statutory, Economic, and Bermuda reporting lenses.
  • Evaluate how changes in actuarial assumptions, product economics, investment strategy, reinsurance, and institutional transactions flow through financial and capital results.
  • Partner with actuarial modeling teams to understand and challenge methodologies and assumptions and translate resulting business needs into actionable requirements.
  • Support the enhancement of legal-entity capital projection, forecasting, and scenario-modeling capabilities.
  • Translate complex actuarial, insurance, and capital concepts into clear business, data, and technology requirements.
  • Identify dependencies and data flows across actuarial models, Investments, General Ledger, Tax, Finance, and capital reporting.
  • Help modernize fragmented modeling and reporting processes by improving data integration, automation, controls, transparency, and scalability.
  • Partner with Technology and Data teams throughout solution design and implementation, ensuring solutions remain grounded in the underlying business and regulatory requirements.
  • Support analysis of new products, institutional transactions, reinsurance structures, and other strategic initiatives to understand their financial and capital implications.
  • Communicate complex modeling and capital concepts clearly to senior business and technology stakeholders and drive alignment across functional teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience within life and annuity insurance, reinsurance, actuarial consulting, insurance finance, capital management, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of life and annuity actuarial modeling, financial projections, statutory reporting, and insurance capital.
  • Working knowledge of multiple financial and regulatory frameworks, ideally including US GAAP, US Statutory, economic capital, and Bermuda regulatory/capital frameworks.
  • Experience with RBC, BEL, BSCR, ORSA, ALM, reinsurance, or legal-entity capital forecasting strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand actuarial models and translate their assumptions and outputs into financial, capital, and business implications.
  • Experience leading or supporting finance, actuarial, capital, data, or technology transformation initiatives within a complex insurance organization.
  • Strong business analysis skills with the ability to move from current-state processes and business problems to clearly articulated requirements and future-state solutions.
  • Experience partnering across Actuarial, Finance, Investments, Risk, Data, and Technology organizations.
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the credibility to challenge senior subject-matter experts and drive alignment across functions.
  • FSA/ASA, CFA, CPA or other relevant professional designation is valuable but not required, depending on depth of functional experience.
  • Experience with actuarial modeling platforms, Python, SQL, AI, or advanced analytics is beneficial, but this is not primarily a model-development or coding role.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will combine the insurance and actuarial fluency of a senior subject-matter expert with the business orientation of an FP&A/capital leader and the translation skills of a transformation professional. They should be able to:

  • Sit with an actuary and understand how assumptions drive liability projections.
  • Sit with Finance and explain the resulting impact on earnings and capital.
  • Sit with Institutional BFO or Investments and understand the business implications.
  • Work with Technology to define what needs to change in the underlying data, models, processes, and reporting.
