Avionics, Sheet Metal Technician - 1481

About the role

As Sheet Metal Technician, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need to have a basic to advanced knowledge of turbine aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures and techniques. You may also be required to help supervise crews and assist in organizing manpower and setting priorities for involved projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe and associated components
• Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials
• Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required
• Navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases with basic computer skills
• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
• Any other job-related duties assigned by supervisor or management

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Airframe and Powerplant License is preferred
• A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory

Experience

• Prior experience working with sheet metal is preferred

Physical requirements

• Lifts 50 lbs
• Routine walking, bending and squatting, or sitting
• Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands
• Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas
• Standing for long periods of time

Mental requirements

• Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines
• Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation
• Work with others in a professional manner

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader. May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot. Work outside during aircraft runs will occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
