About the role

We are seeking an experienced civil engineer to join our collaborative and innovative aviation team in our Portland, OR office. This full-time, hybrid position involves both design and field work on runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, and other aviation-related civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop plans and specifications
• Analyze and prepare engineering reports, budgets, construction cost estimates, studies, and permits for airport design projects
• Perform drafting tasks in AutoCAD and Civil3D to generate plan sheets
• Assist with construction administration and inspection tasks, including field work at project sites (weekends and nights, as needed)
• Read and interpret FAA Advisory Circulars, geotechnical reports, and survey data for project designs
• May assist with client contact, meetings, and communication related to specific projects
• Other tasks as assigned

A valid driver’s license, the ability to pass a background check for airport site access, and travel are required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil engineering, construction engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience in any or all of the following:

• 5 or more years of relevant engineering experience (a plus)
• EIT certification (preferred)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil3D software
• Comfort with public speaking and client-facing roles
• Experience with construction field tasks, including site grading, utilities, drainage, erosion control, paving, materials testing, and/or surveying
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project software
