10-month, full-time, on-site faculty position at Bluegrass Community & Technical College – Leestown Campus.

About the role

The Automotive Technology Instructor prepares students for successful careers in the automotive industry by delivering high-quality technical instruction, hands-on training, and professional guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in automotive systems:
    • Engine repair and performance
    • Braking systems
    • Steering and suspension
    • Electrical and electronic systems
    • HVAC systems
    • Automatic and manual transmissions
    Instruction must align with ASE guidelines and current automotive technologies.
  • Ensure students gain practical, real-world experience through:
    • Shop-based lab activities
    • Diagnostic procedures
    • Use of industry-standard tools and equipment
    • Safety practices and OSHA compliance
  • Prepare students for employment by:
    • Teaching professionalism, work ethic, and teamwork
    • Emphasizing customer service skills
    • Preparing students for ASE certification exams
    • Assisting with internships, co-ops, and job placement opportunities

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in Automotive Technology or related field AND 3 years of related work experience AND appropriate current certifications/licenses required for the course.
  • OR a minimum of 5 years of work experience in the field AND appropriate current certifications/licenses required for the course.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASE Advanced Level Specialist certification

Pay

Salary range: $4,098 – $5,123 per month.
