Automotive Mechanic Mobile

Torque by Ryder is hiring a permanent full-time Mid-Level Mobile Automotive Technician to support our truck fleet in Augusta, GA.

Pay

• Hourly pay: $29.00 per hour (based on experience)
• Retention bonus: $2,000 paid every quarter within the first year

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or professional diploma (preferred)
• Two (2) years or more in combination of classroom training and work experience
• Non-commercial Driver License CLASS E
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A (preferred)
• State driver’s license as required

Qualifications

• Preventive Maintenance (PM230 & PM298) within 90 days
• Brakes-Air (BA220 & BA298) within 90 days
• Brake mechanics/inspectors FMCS 396.25
• Hydraulic Brake (BH220 & BH298) where appropriate within 90 days
• Tire & Wheel TW220 within 90 days
• CF609 & A/C trained and qualified (AC220 & AC298) within 180 days
• Battery charge and check, warranty
• HD electrical - DR208 within 90 days
• Svc Island Support SBTIII trained (SBT220) and SBT Phase 2 within 180 days
• OEM online engine courses (minimum 2)

This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. Candidates must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years. Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, and customer-specific badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnosis, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance for non-contractual customers. May assist higher-grade maintenance specialists and help complete complex repairs.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including but not limited to:
  • Tune-ups
  • Oil changes
  • Tire changes
  • Fuel filter changes
  • Fluid checks
  • Alignments
  • Basic suspension replacement
  • Light and mirror replacements
• Assist or receive guidance from a higher-grade maintenance specialist to diagnose, repair, or replace:
  • Engine parts (alternators, starters, radiators, injectors)
  • Transmissions and other fuel components
• Perform basic diagnostics
• Conduct hydraulic brake inspections, repairs, and replacements
• Operate out of a mobile maintenance vehicle and travel to customer yards within the assigned region
• Possess general knowledge and understanding of Torque products and services
• Represent Torque/Ryder to establish and maintain customer relationships
• Ensure proper documentation of work orders, customer repair authorizations, and repair notes within Salesforce
• Perform environmental duties such as site inspections, site clean-ups/disposals, and handling vehicle chemicals with guidance
• Work in accordance with all federal, regional, and corporate compliance guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned
