Automotive Mechanic Journeyman - Temporary Position

Seeking a reliable Temporary Automotive Mechanic to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. The Automotive Technician will maintain a diverse range of equipment, including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, and trailers from various manufacturers. These vehicles use propulsion systems such as diesel, gasoline, and alternative technologies (compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electrical in some locations).

About the role

Temporary position lasting 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Meets D.O.T requirements required by job assignment
• Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout the workday
• Sits infrequently as required
• Exercises simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level
• Operates standard and manual transmission vehicles
• Operates power and pneumatic tools

Requirements

• Active driver’s license issued by the state
• 21 years or older
• Willing to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, Monday-Friday
• Possess the required hand tools to perform the job
• CDL Class A or B (preferred)
• Current documented 5 years of experience as an Automotive Mechanic working with heavy-duty vehicles
• Dependable with ability to report to work regularly and complete scheduled workdays consistently
• Available to work varying shifts, additional hours, and/or overtime depending on service needs
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National, an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer
• Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself

Skills

• Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers
• Experience working on diesel and CNG vehicles
• Hands-on experience with fleet repairs, welding, and cutting
• Experience performing DOT Inspections
• Works cooperatively in a diverse work environment
• Communicates effectively to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
• ASE Certification (preferred)

Work Environment

• Works in variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions)
• Exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, noise, and outside inclement weather
• Wears personal protective equipment as required

Pay

$44.25 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
